First Morning of 2010...

...through the eyes of a 4 year old.

Olives to be served (but sadly never made it to the table) at the New Years get-together we had with Jeremy's brothers.  I think somebody must have been hungry.

A hungry pooch ready for the day.  Alexander loves to say "Yoda is the funniest in our family."

Somebody has recently discovered how to actually play XBox games...sigh...

A quick journey around the house.

Upstairs perspective.

And what child can resist the temptation of sugar filled goodness?

Along this budding photographer's journey, the camera was dropped with the power on which jammed the lense.  Oh the joys...

Merry Christmas 2009

So sorry to all who have frequented this blog only to find the same post over and over.  I'll try to be better about updating in 2010.

Kayleen is Baptized

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:

At the end of summer each year, our church holds a lakeside baptism.  It's a wonderful time of fellowship as we gather together for a church picnic.  Then around dusk we all head down to the edge of the lake to witness those who have realized the Lord is calling them to be baptized.  This year our sweet baby girl was one of those people!

Kayleen and I were at the grocery store picking up lunch after church when she turned to me and said, "Mom, I think I'd like to be baptized at the church picnic tonight."  I was a bit floored.  I have been waiting for her to feel this way, but always just waited for her heart to be touched in a way only God knows how to do.  When we got home Kayleen told Jeremy and they discussed what it meant to be baptized and that night she was baptized.  What an exciting time in her life and with her growing relationship with God.

Here are a few pictures of the baptism.  It was held at Lake Sammamish State Park on a beautiful sunny evening.  The water was so warm!  The man to the left of Kayleen is our pastor Glen Salzman.

Oh yes, don't mind the photo processing, it's icky.  I don't have Photoshop at the moment and the sun was behind a cloud when I was taking photos...dah!

What an amazing time in Kayleen's life!  She is an inspiration.  That last picture is so sweet, that must have made Kayleen feel extra safe that  Jeremy got to help :)

3 Days Over 100*F = River Time!

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:
This week will go down in the history books.  Temps over 100*F for over three days straight might tempt most anybody to hop in the local river.  River?  What's that you say?  Just so happens we have one in our back yard!  It's cold enough to really cool you off, but it's so much fun at the same time!  With every fall flood brings a new landscape of river frontage for us to explore.  Lucky for us the last flooding moved a lot of the large rocks away and left quite a bit of easy walking areas...you can almost walk right straight across the entire river right now!  We've had so much fun swimming these past few evenings I figured I'd bring our little camera along for the ride this time...

Yup...tripod...in the river.

Crazy Hot!

We get to float down river a little ways to get to our "jumping" rock.

Lasting Memories

Kayleen jumping solo.

Alex just hanging out on the shore.  This year is Alex's first real fun with the river.  He's been floating downstream with "no hands" from Mom or Dad.  He even jumped off the jumping rock!  Well, with little help from Daddy.

Floating down the river, but not to worry....

...it's only this deep!

Alex and Mommy sitting in the water together.

We found a rock downstream with a cute little notch carved out...perfect for Alex's little tush.

Memorial Day Weekend 2009 - Leavenworth, WA

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:
We decided to head over to Leavenworth, WA for the Sunday/Monday of Memorial Day weekend.  We had a lot of fun just walking around and enjoying our time together.  Although it was a short trip, it was a perfect get-away.  We also finally got a new point and shoot camera!  These pictures were all taken with the new little guy.  We're still trying to figure out how to optimize picture quality.

Walking back to the hotel Sunday evening...it was HOT out!

Some fun in the hat/glasses store....

No picture of Ethan in the hat shop...he simply refused to put on any fun hats or glasses...party pooper!

But give him a stick and he's all up for a photo opp.  Here he is being a ninja, or something like that...

The flowers were everywhere and oh so beautiful..

Kayleen payed for her own rock climbing adventure.

Finally, time to cool off!

The kids crashed hard Sunday evening.  :-)

Water Fun and a Birthday

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:

Although the warm weather is sporadic at best, we're enjoying every ray of sunshine we can soak in.  Here are a few pictures from one of the nicer days a few weeks ago.

Sprinkler Fun

Pure Trouble!

The tune from any random 70's drama runs through my mind for this next shot...something like "Boom-chicka-wow-wow".  Something is not right here......

Turns out Kayleen "double dog dared" Ethan to put a mouthfull of our driveway gravel in his mouth.  And...he did it.  Nice.

And here's more sibling love...

KAYLEEN TURNS 9!

This last Wednesday, MAY 6TH, we had a birthday in the family.  Our sweet baby girl turned 9 years old!  The time has truely flow by.  These are a few pictures from the day.  More pictures of her actual "friends" birthday party to be posted later...as the party is today!

Big kids bike!

Webkinz, a 9 year olds staple.

And no girl's birthday is complete without neon nailpolish...right????

Spring Break, Take 1

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:
Today is the first day of Spring Break for Kayleen and Ethan.  They both asked me if they could do a big job to earn $5 each.  Alrighty then....

Kayleen had to tidy up both the front yard and back yard.

Ethan had to organize the third bay of our garage...kids bikes, toys, etc.

Alex just rode his bike around the whole time...yesterday was the first day he actually rode around by himself!!  He loves it.  This morning he woke me up and asked if he could go ride his bike.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures.  I had the settings wrong on the camera..ugh.

Spring Snow

Posted by Jill Rule Categories:

What??  Spring??  Spring in the Northwest maybe?

Surprisingly, we all woke up to the white fluffy stuff this morning.

This has got to be one of the snowiest years we've ever had since being here in North Bend.  We usually have one or two good snow shows and that's it.  There has been many a fall and melt this year.

As I type this out, it's still coming down, but school is still on.  Between the winter snow and flooding school is already pushed back till June 24th!  At this point it would take the school district a real snow storm to cancel school now.

On a side note, Kayleen wasn't feeling well yesterday so she stayed home from school.   After a long afternoon of laying around, she wanted to make "something".  I found an old children's cookbook Grandma Sester had given us and let Kayleen browse through it.  After a few minutes Kayleen started to ask me if we had these ingredients:  eggs, milk, toast, butter.  Hmm, 10 guesses what it was....of course, french toast!  So, Kayleen made her very own french toast yesterday.  She's becoming such an independent young lady.  *sniffs*

Ahh yes, and Alex had to be right there by her side to "help".
