Welcoming in 2011!

Welcome to 2011 and a new theme on the Hen’s blog! I have to say, I will miss the Christmas theme greatly. I could leave it up all year… I’m sure my readers are sick of it by now, so for the new year I’m bringing in the “new” for ya. It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging for over 10 years now (off and on). Crazy!

What have we been up to? Skiing! Are you tired of hearing about skiing yet? Probably, but you will be hearing about it till the season is over. That’s the beauty of it being MY blog. HA!

In the week after Christmas, Grandma and Grandpa Bechard took the kids for a few nights over the kids Winter Break so we could get a weekend away.  Jeremy’s Uncle Paul has a duplex up at Snoqualmie Pass and we took him up on his offer to stay (We fondly refer to the duplex as “The Cabin”). What fun!  How awesome to be able to stay up at the Pass to go night skiing, then drive 5 minutes to a hot shower and bed!  We hit the slopes at Alpental the next day and I got a good dose of reality…Alpental blue runs are much harder than Summit Central/West, that’s for sure. I think I was sore for a few days, but had a great time with the man.

The Cabin

They know how to protect their fire hydrants!

It snowed, and snowed, and snowed!  There was a truck parked in front of the cabin…must have been there for some time…it was almost completely covered in snow.

Ahhh, instant coffee in the morning!

Still snowing!

Yoda wasn’t to sure what to think.

Although he did love jumping through the snow.  It was so deep he had to jump like a deer.  It was so funny!

Digging the van out to head over to Alpental.

Finally, Alpental…my first visit EVER!  I was actually frightened.  This is where the “real” skiiers ski…or so I’ve heard.

Crossing the bridge….

Hangin’ on the lift.  Brrrr!

P1000752

At the top of Debbies Gold…it’s steep!  I fell tons…eek!

We had to take a break around lunchtime…it was just snowing too hard to ski.  Look at how snow crusted our hats are!  We now have helmets!  Lunch never tasted better!  I think we were more hungry than we thought.

What you do after a long day of skiing.  Nap time!

The kids seem excited to see me when I picked them up….

The kids are progressing with their skiing skills at a rapid pace. They were signed up for lower level skiing lessons and all of them had to be moved up in levels (our first of 6 weeks of lessons started last weekend). Although the lifts really scare me with the kids going up on their own (K&E), they do great and I’m so impressed at their maturity. I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable with my babies being up so high without a seatbelt!

Kayleen and Ethan Skiing the Triple 60 Black Diamond run…I did it too!!!

Alex loves the jump park! This is what he said to me while we were on the ski lift, “Mom, you need to get some speed so you can catch some air.” haha!

Thanks gals! I tried to retrofit my pictures into the existing picture on the top, but haven't gotten it right yet...hmmm....

I don't know HTML, so I'm not sure how to move it over to align with the rest of the page....
